WINNER: Mr Andrew Bunney (AHT) at Beech. Andrew joined the Academy in September this year and has shown endeavour in all that he has done. Aspects of his work that have had a real impact are around the Academy’s strategy on Pupil Premium, Data and Assessment and also his vision for our new curriculum for 2019. He also scored 5 in the Beech Vs Brunts football match last week
Last year, Year 11 took part in a Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottinghamshire Police sponsored project looking at issues around consent. At the end of the workshops the pupils wrote and recorded radio adverts to inform other teenagers about the importance of consent. The project was run across the county, and a judging panel of young people had a difficult choice in judging the merits of all the entries. One of the Beech adverts was awarded a runners up position for their informative and innovative clip advising young people how they can say ‘No’ if someone asks them to do something they don’t want to do.
Today Kirstin Lamb from Notts County Council and DCI Peter Quinn from Notts Police joined our assembly where the pupils shared their work, and then presented Y11 with a certificate of excellence for their work.
This week we celebrated Halloween with a disco organised by Post 16. Pupils and staff had a fantastic afternoon dancing to the soundtrack provided by MC Bunney and taking part in traditional activities such as apple bobbing. It was lovely to see James who has been very poorly and unable to attend school for a while.
