When considering my next career move, I was drawn to the ethos of Evolve. When I first met Claire-Marie (CEO) and John Dryden (Chair of Trustees), I was blown away by the visionary outlook of the Trust and the focus on core values. I knew from that moment that Evolve was the right fit for me and I was lucky enough to be appointed as Chief Finance Officer in March 2017.
As a qualified Chartered Accountant with a significant amount of experience working with academy trusts, I was able to bring this knowledge and expertise to my new role. It has been a journey over the last 4 years and I have learnt so much about myself and how best to develop our systems and processes.
Evolve is very much a learning organisation and Claire-Marie is passionate about reading and professional development. As part of the Executive Team, I have read some excellent core texts which have given powerful insights into other organisations. We have been able to use these learnings, as a team, to continue developing ourselves, our teams and the Trust. I am so grateful for the opportunity to further develop and hone my skills through the Level 7 Masters in School Business Leadership and I am currently in my final year. I’ve learnt a great deal about myself as a leader and about how I can improve my approach in the future. This opportunity has definitely allowed me to live out our core values, especially ambition and resilience!
Since joining the Trust, my role has developed and I now have responsibilities outside of finance. I am in a privileged position where I get to work with a great team, who strive to make Evolve the best it possibly can be so our students can achieve their very best. We live and breathe our core values every day, and all our decisions are based around these values. This role is a challenging one, but the vision and values drive me to be the very best I can be. We are all responsible for shaping the future for the young people that pass through our doors, and I am grateful to be part of an organisation that strives to create opportunities for these young people to achieve their full potential.
