Your commitment

makes a difference to the children we serve

Evolve wants four things from you:

  1. Live and breathe our core values every single day.
  2. Demonstrate the behaviours which underpin these values.
  3. Exceptional performance in your role.
  4. Commitment to our strategic objectives.

1 - Live and breathe our core values every single day

The Evolve Trust is a values-driven organisation - all our work is underpinned by our 5 Core Values of Ambition, Integrity, Inclusivity, Resilience and Endeavour and we have associated behaviours which run through all the work that we do – we expect all staff to live and breathe the Evolve A.I.I.R.E. Our culture is the values and standards we work and live by and you should question actions inconsistent with our values.

2 - Demonstrate the behaviours which underpin these values.

At Evolve we have numerous awards, which are given to members of staff for living our values and demonstrating the following behaviours in action.

  • We are ambitious for all – students, the academies and the Trust, community and staff
  • We go above and beyond to give our students the understanding, skills and the knowledge to forge their best possible future
  • We strive for everyone to become the best versions of themselves
  • We set consistently high expectations for our students and each other

  • We hold ourselves and each other accountable
  • We pride ourselves on our candor and honesty
  • We recognise our mistakes, share and learn from them
  • We do what is right for our pupils in the face of external pressures and difficulties
  • We challenge behaviours that fall below what it means to be an Evolver

  • We act as a team, one team
  • We treat everyone with respect
  • We share expertise and build capability across the Trust and the wider community
  • We create an environment where everybody feels safe and is inspired to be themselves
  • We remove anything which might prevent equality of opportunity

  • We recover from setbacks
  • We do what is right, not what is easy
  • We relish a challenge and face it head on
  • We are driven by the Evolve vision, we are tenacious and never give up
  • We view feedback as a gift, an opportunity to grow and learn, and we give it with positive intent

  • We find new and better ways to serve our students, our colleagues and the community
  • We give our all to every task and make sure that it is done to the best of our ability
  • We do what needs to be done for the Trust and students, even if it is not part of our day job
  • We take ownership, get stuck into a problem, find solutions… we don’t expect someone else to solve it

3 - Exceptional performance in your role

  • We demand excellence in all that we do.
  • Research is at the heart of The Evolve Trust and we expect staff to be committed to improve their teaching practice and skills and expertise in their individual areas. Our research library supports this, together with the excellent professional development programme in place for teachers and leaders.

Natalie Aveyard

Bramble Principal

“I am extremely appreciative and grateful for all the amazing opportunities I have had at the Trust to develop and grow. Ambition is one of our core values and I feel it is imperative our students see that in staff also, as you can see from my career journey we are all encouraged to step outside of our comfort zones and learn.”

4 - Commitment to our strategic objectives

The Evolve Trust has 4 strategic objectives, listed below, and by meeting these we will do amazing things for the young people, their families, and the community we serve. Help us to achieve our goals.

  • To raise attainment and continually improve pupil progress through increasing the quality of provision in all our schools.
  • Staff engage in professional development activities that enable them to flourish and demonstrate impact on teaching and learning.
  • Developing new partnerships to provide further opportunities for our pupils and staff and to ensure the Trust remains a “capacity giver” to the wider community.
  • To build a strong infrastructure which is financially viable and sustainable.

Barbara Sims

Chief Finance Officer

When considering my next career move, I was drawn to the ethos of Evolve. When I first met Claire-Marie (CEO) and John Dryden (Chair of Trustees), I was blown away by the visionary outlook of the Trust and the focus on core values. I knew from that moment that Evolve was the right fit for me and I was lucky enough to be appointed as Chief Finance Officer in March 2017.
As a qualified Chartered Accountant with a significant amount of experience working with academy trusts, I was able to bring this knowledge and expertise to my new role. It has been a journey over the last 4 years and I have learnt so much about myself and how best to develop our systems and processes.
Evolve is very much a learning organisation and Claire-Marie is passionate about reading and professional development. As part of the Executive Team, I have read some excellent core texts which have given powerful insights into other organisations.  We have been able to use these learnings, as a team, to continue developing ourselves, our teams and the Trust. I am so grateful for the opportunity to further develop and hone my skills through the Level 7 Masters in School Business Leadership and I am currently in my final year. I’ve learnt a great deal about myself as a leader and about how I can improve my approach in the future. This opportunity has definitely allowed me to live out our core values, especially ambition and resilience!
Since joining the Trust, my role has developed and I now have responsibilities outside of finance. I am in a privileged position where I get to work with a great team, who strive to make Evolve the best it possibly can be so our students can achieve their very best. We live and breathe our core values every day, and all our decisions are based around these values. This role is a challenging one, but the vision and values drive me to be the very best I can be. We are all responsible for shaping the future for the young people that pass through our doors, and I am grateful to be part of an organisation that strives to create opportunities for these young people to achieve their full potential.
