The Evolve Trust is a dynamic and highly successful trust, with both the ambition and strength to create a lasting difference, serving the needs of the Mansfield Community. We are passionate about giving children and young people of all backgrounds an outstanding education. Our values are at the heart of everything we do - ambition, integrity, endeavour, inclusivity, resilience. We currently have three schools within our Multi-Academy Trust and we have exciting plans to grow.
The Trust central team provides support and expertise and works with school leaders to focus on the education of children and the development of teaching staff. We are currently looking for a HR Manager who is aligned with our core values to join our central team and support us on our journey. Our staff really matter to us; we appreciate that it is the talent, passion and ability of our staff that drives our performance and we welcome your interest in our amazing trust.
This is an exciting time to join us as you will play a pivotal role of supporting mangers and staff as together we shape and build the future of the Evolve Trust.
About the role:
A review of the current HR structure has presented an opportunity for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and ‘hands-on’ generalist with robust ER and operational experience, as well as strong influencing and negotiation skills, to join our team as a HR Manager. With the confidence to ‘hit the ground running’, as a HR Manager you will have responsibility for working with the HR Administrator and School Business Managers to provide HR expertise, advice and guidance to the Trust Executive Team, Headteachers and Senior Leadership Team in each Academy, ensuring legal compliance and consistency.
As an experienced and credible HR professional with a track record of managing and delivering a generalist HR service in the education sector, you will be expected to advise and support managers on the application of HR policies and processes relating to recruitment, capability, discipline, grievance, sickness absence and job evaluation, as well as manage payroll processes. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of the Trusts systems, policies and procedures and develop and maintain an up to date library of document templates for use by all academies.
You will take a lead role on HR projects, plan and implement new HR initiatives and prepare, carry out, analyse and report on employee surveys. You will also develop and deliver training programmes for people managers.
With competent and confident people management and relationship development skills, you will mentor, manage and develop the HR Administrator and work with the School Business Managers to support in the management and development of their respective academy HR functions.
About the person:
Experience in the education sector is essential. Previous experience of direct line management would be advantageous, but the role would also suit someone who has some previous supervising experience who is looking to take on increased direct line-management experience. A business-related degree and a post-graduate CIPD qualification at level 7 is required. Candidates should have experience in employee relations and a thorough understanding of diverse and complex HR matters, a creative approach to problem solving, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-site environment with multiple stakeholders. Previous experience of managing payroll administration and using HR and/ or payroll databases is required.
Working with numerous stakeholders, the HR Manager will naturally be personable, affable and approachable and able to engage others effectively. They must also be able to demonstrate their ability to challenge and influence others effectively and appropriately, prioritising the needs of the organisation in balance with the needs of individuals, while maintaining positive professional relationships with stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will enjoy challenges, variety, team working and working at pace. They will remain calm, collected, composed and have a ‘can do’ attitude in the face of adversity, the patience and tenacity to follow through and the resilience to support and lead change.
We expect staff to support our vision and live by our core values and behaviours, but in return we believe in personal and professional development and a culture where staff are recognised and valued for their effort, dedication and excellence. For the right person, the Evolve Trust can offer 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, a contributory local government pension scheme and access to a fantastic wellbeing and health related benefits package.
